UN DEVELOPMENT NATIONAL PROGRAM: COOPERATION MEETING

A meeting with the UN Human Development Program Expert Group was organized at the Scientific-Analytical Center of Constitutional Economics of YSU.

The meeting was attended by Professor Hayk Sargsyan, Director of the Center, PhD Professor Ruben Gevorgyan, Varsenik Sargsyan, PhD student of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Serob Khachatryan, head of the UN Human Development Program Expert Group, expert Aghasi Tadevosyan and Marina Galstyan, director of the Institute for Youth Studies.

During the meeting, the matter for discussion was the study of factors influencing internal migration from the Armenian communities to Yerevan and abroad, the overseas migration.

The topic was presented by Gagik Chakhoyan and Yenok Hakobyan, PhD students of the Faculty (Academic Director: Ruben Gevorgyan).

The study is based on data regarding the communities provided by the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development.

Have been presented the migration determinants of internal migration (from Yerevan) and external (to overseas) from the RA communities.

After the assessment of the model results, the speakers presented that spatial regression models had better results than normal regression, and the EDI's impact on the outbound abroad was positive.

If the value of the RDI increases by 1 (10 points int eh scale), the share of those traveling abroad will increase by 0.5 percentage points.

The meeting ended with a discussion.
