INDEPENDENCE OF CENTRAL BANK IN THE CONTEXT OF CONSTITUTIONALISM

Yerevan State University's Scientific-Analytical Center of Constitutional Economics, jointly with the Central Bank of Armenia's Center for Economic Education and Research Support Fund, has organized a meeting on "CB's independence and price stability" in Yerevan and in the provinces within the framework of the program "Independence of the Central Bank as an Important Norm of the RA Constitution".

The discussion was attended by CBA Vice-governer Nerses Yeritsyan, Board Members Armenak Darbinyan , Ashot Mkrtchyan, Oleg Aghasyan, Artur Stepanyan,  CBA Adviser Hasmik Ghahramanyan, Director of Scientific and Analytical Center for Economic Sciences Hayk Sargsyan, as well as Karlen Khachatryan, Head of Management and Business Chair of the Faculty of Economics and Management of the YSU, Hayk Mnatsakanyan, Head of Finances and Accounting Chair of the Faculty of Economics and Management of the YSU, PhD studets Vahagn Tepoyan and Ashot Nanyan.

 At the meeting  speeches  were delivered Professor of Mathematical Modeling Chair Ruben Gevorgyan, Candidate of Economics Zhirayr Mxitaryan and PhD student Varsi Sargsyan.

"As a criterion for the financial markets effectiveness is observed one of the Central Bank target rates: in particular the inflation rate. This approach is logical and justified, "marked the speakers in their speech.

The speakers also noted that, as a result of research, it became clear that the higher the independence of the central bank, the lower the average inflation in the given country.
